A long-awaited Christmas lunch chilling in the Plazas de Armas
Santiago – Rest Day
Total Distance So Far: 8,550 kms
It was good to get back and have a lay-in. Today was going to be spent just lazing around the city, and the promise of catching up on a missed Christmas dinner. The restaurants on Easter Island were closed for Christmas lunch so we had crisps, shared a banana and some coke!
Santiago is a great city. It’s very easy to navigate and is full of plazas and café’s everywhere. It ha a great mix of both smart old and new buildings. I could easily live here or in Buenos Aires. Santiago has the advantage that it is also easy to drive to either the beach or a good ski resort and back in a day.
The people are friendly, there's loads to do. It had also cleaned up an awful in the six years since I was last here. All the old trucks and buses that use to pollute have been replaced by gleaming new models.
