Just north of La Serena they was a 50km stretch that brought memories back of Patagonia. The wind was strong enough to make you slow down to 40kmph from 120kmph, and it still sent you side to side across the road. At one point we tried to tuck in behind this lorry doing about 30 kmph, but he began swerving about like the driver was drunk, so we overtook him and pushed it up a bit. It was even more surprising as his load looked pretty heavy including a large generator on the back.
